Looking for a new family-friendly adventure? The 3.3km Mandai Boardwalk should be your next hiking trail! The scenic route takes you along Upper Seletar Reservoir and the Central Catchment Nature Reserve, before circling back past River Wonders and the Singapore Zoo. Be sure to take your time and look inside the zoo to catch a glimpse of animals like the Rothschild’s giraffes being lovingly cared for. Along the way, you’ll also spot local wildlife such as the straw-headed bulbul and flocks of long-tailed parakeets.

The boardwalk features five wildlife-themed stations and a lookout point with a stunning view of Upper Seletar Reservoir. These stations, including the Tree Frog’s Hangout and the Iora’s Nest, are named after animals native to both the forest and water ecosystems. If you need a break, the Damselfly’s Wing rest station offers a perfect spot to recharge.

Where are the entrances to the Mandai Boardwalk located?

There are two easy-to-spot entrances to the boardwalk. The first is near the entrance of River Wonders, while the second is at Mandai Wildlife East – a new public space that connects Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, and the Mandai Rainforest Resort. Future plans for Mandai Wildlife East include family-friendly additions like F&B spots and children’s playgrounds.

The entrances, marked with adorable animal-themed signage, are open every day from 7am to 7pm, inviting you to explore the beauty of Mandai at your own pace.

To make your visit to Mandai Boardwalk more enjoyable, it’s essential to stay prepared. Bring along a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated, especially if you plan to walk for an extended period. Comfortable walking shoes are also a must, as the boardwalk offers a rustic nature trail that involves some walking.

For the best experience, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The weather during these times is cooler, making the walk more pleasant. Additionally, these periods increase your chances of spotting wildlife, as many animals are more active when it’s not too hot.
