Snow City

It’s getting hot these days and living in Singapore means we get the pleasure of experiencing the wonderful tropical climate! But what can we do when it gets a little too hot to handle? How about… heading to a winter wonderland right here in Singapore!

Snow City is Singapore’s first permanent indoor snow centre. A family-oriented attraction centre, Snow City receives an average patronage of some 250,000 visitors from around the world!

What makes it unique? A snow chamber that delivers a snowy experience all year round. This chamber creates a unique sub-zero environment that will give your kids the ultimate winter wonderland experience! They are snow professionals that create not only fun and enriching educational programmes, but magic out of thin air as well!

Launched in June 2000 and revamped in 2007, Snow City is owned and managed by Snow Venture Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Science Centre Holdings Pte Ltd. It has a three-storey high and 60-metres long snow slope for visitors to snow tube.
It is also popular among locals and tourists who are unable to experience sub-zero temperatures back in their homelands.
With Snow City’s new theme, visitors will be transported to the Arctic Circle where they will be introduced to Snow City’s 5 new mascots (Oki, Nooka, Suki, Ila, Koko) as well as new interactive exhibits.
The snow level in the Snow Chamber (snow-covered area of Snow City building) is maintained at a depth of 400mm. Up to 150 tons of snow is required to cover the snow grounds and about 10 – 15 tons of snow is made each week to maintain this snow level. They produce all this snow on-site using a specially-designed snow gun!

How do they do it? Their recipe is for snow is “One ton of liquid nitrogen + one ton of water = one ton of snow!” This is the one and only amazing fact on snow and cold temperature, which you can discover at Snow City!

Normally, they open from Tuesdays to Fridays, 10:00am – 5:00pm. However, during School & Public Holidays, they are open daily, from 10:00am – 6:00pm. Their cleaning and sanitizing works remains during operational hours.
